Create of the Day: Qwiki Presentations

We’ve all lost a few hours here and there to the endless minutiae (both informative and frivolous) of Wikipedia. But new website Qwiki turns the eye-straining experience of reading what is arguably mankind’s greatest collaborative effort into a pleasantly-narrated visual tour of any topic imaginable. It takes literally seconds to generate a high-quality presentation that’s ready to send and share. Check out this one I just made for the eternally awesome Benjamin Franklin:

Qwikis are fun and easy to create, and even allow you to suggest new pictures to include or correct mispronunciations of certain words. And since most Qwikis are just a minute or two in length, I can see these being used as great introductions for curious kids (and adults!) to interesting or complex topics. Or even PokeMon, if that’s what you’re into.

If Wikipedia was the first big step towards transcribing and archiving the collective knowledge of the human race, Qwiki seems to be the next logical step to make it consumable for everyone. Try it out and post a link to yours in the comments!
