Create of the Day: The 30-Day Challenge Begins

lets do it!

This is an exciting post. Today marks day #1 of my personal 30-Day Challenge to post a brief entry on branding, digital media, or advertising here on Create & Consume every day. I have my good friend and MBA classmate Angela Mikolajewski to thank for the inspiration. Here’s our exchange from earlier today that inspired this little experiment:

@angelamikol: My 30-day challenge: Tweet everyday about something interesting in social sustainability. This should be fun.
@greg_fitz: @angelamikol too easy! BLOG everyday ab something in social sustaianability. 100-250 words each. I’ll do it with you for branding. Wanna?

@angelamikol: @greg_fitz Love the challenge! You’re on. I just created a blog on Tumblr. It’s called GiveGetLive.

There you have it. Through the magic of social media, one person’s simple (but still respectable!) 30-day challenge was escalated AND matched by someone else, leading to the improvement of two specialized, content-rich blogs that wouldn’t have been given a second thought otherwise.

Be sure to follow Angela’s 30-day challenge over here at GiveGetLive. She has a true passion for social sustainability in business, and I’m sincerely excited to read her thoughts and see what she discovers. Here at Create & Consume, my challenge content will be a lot of what what I normally post, but posts will be MUCH more frequent and hopefully better than ever!

This entire experiment was originally inspired by Matt Cutts’ fantastic TED talk, “Try Something New for 30 Days.” The main idea? “Think about something you’ve always wanted to add to your life, and try it for 30 days.” I’ve wanted to become more serious about writing and curating content here for some time— this is the perfect opportunity to do it.

Check back often for new posts, updates on the challenge, and a whole bunch of awesome Creates and delectable Consumes!
